Project Team Includes,

Alaa Aroog from Sinai Peninsula, Egypt

Alaa is a social activist and holds a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Business Administration, from Al-Arish University in 2023. Alaa is currently working as Project coordinator at the Mediterranean Youth Foundation for Development – MYF.

Over the past three years, I had s participated in a series of capacity building programs in the areas of sustainable development and climate change. I got the opportunity to work on several programs at the Mediterranean Youth Foundation, Mediterranean Women’s Ship and the Mediterranean Youth Academy, life skills and migration in programs funded by the European Union and international organizations. I also had an exceptional opportunity to participate in a cultural exchange program in Cyprus, which made me the first woman n her tribe to travel outside the country, given the social restrictions imposed on women in my community.

Gender Still an Issue Experience from Alaa Aroog:

I live in a border area called North Sinai. It is a small city that does not have a lot of opportunities but I tried to develop myself, research and read and what I could do. I got two opportunities to travel to Cyprus and this was the beginning. After that, I got the opportunity to travel to Sweden alone for the first time, which was for a month, and this is the longest time I have spent abroad.

It was not an ordinary opportunity. It was a great opportunity that I will never forget. It was with ProQvi I am grateful to be with them. They made me stronger and my thinking developed. During the 30 days, it was a real experience for me with all situations, from a small city in which I lived to another large country that I went to alone and lived with completely different cultures, and they never made me feel any difference. We exchanged ideas during the project and worked together. We exchanged foods together. We cooked, played, and spent the night together.

The topic of the program was interesting to me because it called for gender and that we are both equal and that women are capable of doing anything if they want, as I did, and I was able to move outside the borders despite the challenges I face. Being a girl, from the point of view of others, I cannot do it, so that was interesting to me. Discussing this topic, participating in the program and hearing the opinions of others, I would like to express my thanks to each team work with ProQvi, Special thanks to Tania!
